* Note that with Polydor releases some stamper detail is expressed as:
> = an upside down triangle in all stamped matrix detail for the Track Records and Polydor Records pressings while V is expressed as such.
% = a diamond

^ = a triangle

As with the previous albums we get wonderful variations on not only the covers but how this was presented. While no true mono recording exists of this double LP we do get the tracks appearing as “fold down”. This is of course where the stereo mix has been merged at say, the mastering stage. This is where we have all of those DJ mono copies from Reprise sourced from along with many other “mono” official releases from Polydor or made for radio broadcast. Bar The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp we have no dedicated mono mix of any other material from this release. The album initially was pressed in such a way that the tracks could be played in the order that they were intended. Record one had sides A and D while record two contained B and C sides. So back in 1968 you could load your stacker on the record player and play two consecutive sides.

Barclay released this title, 25 October 1968.

What, or rather which constitutes the first pressing from Track Records remains in debate, for now at least? Though the initial claims of the blue text / larger Noel and Mitch pictures contained in the gatefold sleeve was the first issue this has now been debunked beyond doubt. Plus, it would be difficult to conclude any record is “1st press” based on sleeve detail alone So with this in mind I have added more detail to each of the Track Records and Polydor pressings here. If / when a more accurate assessment of this point of issue can be compiled it will be added to the site. But again, it is a case of buyer beware regard any claims about first and even rare "mis-pressings".  Just keep in mind that the seller will do whatever they feel will constitute a better deal for themselves.

I can add that there appears to be a relabelled promotional set, how limited in numbers this is, is unclear at this juncture. Having been made aware of this record a number of years ago I have now been fortunate enough to have been able to request and have received a lot of detail, both photographic and textual to help me understand this record a little more. As and when, more detail will be made available here.

This is a content preview space you can use to get your audience interested in what you have to say so they can’t wait to learn and read more. Pull out the most interesting detail that appears on the page and write it here.
